Broadcast-only celebration will also honor Detroit area teachers
The 63rd Ford Fireworks will be one of the largest ever when it lights up the sky over Lake St. Clair Metropark just past 10:00 p.m. on Monday night. The park will not be open to the public, but the broadcast-only event can be seen on WDIV-Local 4 and ClickOnDetroit from 9-11 p.m.. Produced by The Parade Company with support from Ford Motor Company, the world-class fireworks display was moved from its traditional location in Downtown Detroit for a second year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Each year, Ford Fund joins the celebration by honoring local heroes who go above and beyond in serving our community. We’ve saluted members of the military and recognized front-line workers and first responders who battled back against the coronavirus. This year, teachers and educators stepped to the front of the class.
“Education is a large part of our mission in southeast Michigan and around the world, and we’re proud to honor local teachers who have continually adjusted their lesson plans and work life throughout the pandemic,” said Mary Culler, president, Ford Motor Company Fund. “We want to thank them for providing a steady hand to help our students continue to grow and learn during this uncertain and unprecedented time for our families and our community.”
