Global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Week participants from around the world logging into more than 50 virtual sessions last week to hear from guest speakers and fellow Ford employees. Each session was an opportunity to learn more about what all of us can do to create a more inclusive workplace and support a culture of belonging.

If you missed any of the sessions, you can click here to view them now on the Global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion pathway on Degreed.

The sessions were divided into seven learning tracks, so participants could join in on those they thought would best advance their understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion. The tracks included:

  • Advocacy – Speaking up for your co-workers and building a network of advocates.
  • Belonging – Being part of something and mattering to others.
  • Bias – Recognizing how the brain’s unconscious and conscious defense system alerts humans when they see someone different, and learning to overcome it, especially at work.
  • Courageous conversations – Building skills such as active listening, leaning in with empathy, and respecting different perspectives so we can relate to each other.
  • DEI connection – Bringing it all together to show how diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives apply to us as individuals and teams to encourage greater innovation for the company.
  • Equity – Providing tools in the workplace to give everyone a fair chance at a successful career.
  • Multiculturalism – Understanding, sensitivity, and appreciation of the history, values, experiences, and lifestyles of group with different diversity traits than your own. Growing awareness around multiculturalism is a key focus of the Global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Week and connected to the Ford+ plan around how we Care for Each Other.
