Ford Motor Company, in collaboration with its philanthropic arm, Ford Fund, has donated more than 3 million pesos to Proyecto Mexico to support people who are food insecure in both urban and rural areas of Sonora and Chihuahua. By doing so, Ford is protecting the right to healthy food for this vulnerable population in states where the company has a presence.
As part of the initiative, community committees were established to work with institutions that required support, then food pantries were set up in 27 locations in Chihuahua and in 17 locations in Sonora. The pantries took into account a socio-nutritional evaluation of the surrounding communities, so the types of food provided varied by location.
Through this effort, Ford was able to expand its impact and help more than 19,000 people in need of healthy food, demonstrating that it is a company committed to going beyond the design, production and sale of vehicles to step up for those at risk. Ford’s efforts throughout an ongoing pandemic prove that the company knows no limits when it comes to looking out for the welfare of society, reaffirming its commitment to Mexico for 96 years by doing the right thing.
