Employees are encouraged to apply for funding to benefit nonprofits and NGOs
The Ford Fund is now accepting applications to support projects during the Ford Volunteer Corps’ Global Caring Month in September. Join thousands of colleagues around the world in this annual program to support nonprofits and community service projects close to your heart.
In year’s past employees have used the funding from Global Caring Month for a variety of projects. The environment remains a top theme and in 2021 employees cleaned up the Rhine River in Germany and built a new pipeline for clean drinking water from a reservoir in the Philippines. Local needs are also often addressed during this time and Global Caring Month funds have gone towards purchasing and distributing hygiene kits in South Africa, delivering meals to the homeless in Hungary and inspiring future engineers in Detroit with a STEM-themed section of a school library.
If you have an active CDSID you can nominate a nonprofit or nongovernmental organization (NGO) for one of two grant programs through the month of May:
- Volunteer Project Grants – Ford Fund will provide up to $10,000 USD to nongovernmental organizations to buy tools and supplies for in-person Ford Volunteer Corps projects that will take place during the month of September.
- Gratitude Grants – Up to $10,000 USD to an employee-nominated nonprofit or nongovernmental organization to help sustain or expand efforts to serve the community. Gratitude Grants are open to both new and currently vetted organizations.

All grant proposals will be reviewed and selected by the Ford Motor Company Fund team and then referred to Global Giving, Ford Fund’s international grant making partner. Final decisions are expected by the end of June and grants will be awarded in August.
Ford employees must comply with local market regulations and safety protocol, including COVID-19 restrictions to join in-person volunteer projects. In addition, they must check with their local HR representative to ensure the volunteer project is compliant with local company guidelines.
