In just one month, around 230 Ford volunteers contributed nearly 800 hours of public service.

This is the result of the united efforts of Ford China volunteers during Global Caring Month. Throughout the month of September, we ran more than 10 offline and online volunteer programs with the goal of giving back to the community and to “build a better world”.

Orphan Education Project: Boosting our efforts to help more orphans stay in the classroom

The Orphan Education Project is a volunteer service program that has been running for over 10 years, ever since the Ford China Volunteer Corps was established in 2012. Every year, Ford recruits volunteers to raise funds that help cover the orphans’ tuition fees and related living expenses, enabling them to continue their education.

During the "9-9 Giving Day" fundraising campaign, Ford China volunteers not only participated with their own contributions, but also advocated for their friends and family to help with fundraising. Ultimately, they raised nearly RMB 600,000, which will support more than 260 orphans in continuing their studies.

Caring Project for Youths with Disabilities: Taking action to encourage young people regain their self-confidence

In the Caring Project for Youths with Disabilities, Ford volunteers visited organizations that provide rehabilitation training activities for mentally handicapped young people, helping them boost their self-confidence and to better integrate into society through sports-based and social rehabilitation activities.

Children’s Safety Awareness: Always mind the importance of safety

Since launching last year, the Children’s Safety Awareness Program has received lots of positive feedback from the community and volunteers. This year, Ford volunteers continued the work of this excellent initiative by introducing traffic signs and their significance to children participating in the program, engaging them through fun simulations and enjoyable activities.

In Nanjing, the volunteers from Community Safety team and the professional Blue Panther Rescue Team delivered a safety and first aid training workshop to primary school students, teaching kids about self-rescue and keeping calm in the face of adversity

Stray Animal Caring Project: Valuing every life and preventing overpopulation of stray animals

In Shanghai, Ford volunteers went to Mao Dao, or Cat Island, to carry out an animal rescue project for urban strays. The volunteers shared science-based ideas on feeding methods that help reduce stray cat populations, and also worked together to build a safe and cozy cattery for the animals.

Environmental Protection: On the road to protect our shared home

For this beach clean-up and environmental protection activity, Ford volunteers were encouraged to bring along their family members, especially young kids, to join this activity in the suburbs of Shanghai. This beach clean-up not only raised children's awareness about the importance of environmental protection, but also inspired them to work together to protect the environment.

Over in Nanjing, Ford volunteers visited the Qinhuai River to test the water quality of several parts of the city’s main river, under the guidance and supervision of experts from the Greenstone Environmental Protection Center. The volunteers also gained knowledge about the water quality conditions of the Qinhuai River as well as an appreciation for the importance of environmental and water quality preservation.

Visiting Breast Cancer Patients: Promoting women's health while spreading warmth and love

Since 2016, Ford volunteers have been making annual visits to people with breast cancer. With a pink shirt, a kind blessing, and a cheerful smile, the volunteers brought the patients both monetary and spiritual support.

Video Classroom Program: Empowering rural kids in uplifting themselves

September may be over, but the caring continues. Ford China Volunteer Corps has kicked off volunteer recruitment for the third phase of its video classroom program. Ford volunteers from the first two phases shared their rewarding classroom experiences, students from rural mountainous areas expressed their love and appreciation, and new volunteers wrote heartfelt messages to the children.

In fact, Ford China Volunteer Corps has been a bright light for our community all year long, striving hard to bring people together to build a better world through acts of kindness and love.

Over the past 11 years since the launch of Ford China Volunteer Corps, more than 20,000 people times that our employees have contributed over 120,000 hours in more than 700 community service activities. Over 3000 people times that our employees have raised more than CNY7,000,000 (over 1million USD) helping 3,000 orphans to stay in the classroom.
