Ford on the Brink of a Historic NASCAR Triple Crown

Ford Performance has another opportunity to make history at NASCAR Championship Weekend this season at Phoenix Raceway. Last season, Ford became the first manufacturer to sweep all three major NASCAR championships in more than 20 years, doing so for the first time in company history behind title-winning performances from Ryan Blaney (Cup Series), Cole Custer (Xfinity Series), and Ben Rhodes (Truck Series).

Blaney is joined in Sunday’s Championship 4 race by Team Penske teammate and 2022 Cup Series champion Joey Logano, while Custer is looking to repeat in Saturday’s Xfinity Series finale. Ty Majeski will be looking for his first career championship, and Ford’s third straight, in Friday night’s Truck Series race.

With Blaney and Logano, Ford, which has won the Cup Series championship 11 times with nine different drivers, also has a chance to win three straight NASCAR Cup Series titles for the first time in its history. Also, Blaney could become the first driver to win back-to-back series championships since Jimmie Johnson in 2010, while Logano could become the first Ford driver to win three NASCAR Cup Series championships if he prevails on Sunday.

Logano, who has three Cup Series victories this season and a win in the non-points All-Star race, secured his spot in the Championship 4 race by winning the Round of 8 playoff series opener at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Blaney, meanwhile, qualified with a win last weekend at Martinsville Speedway. Cole Custer is looking to become the second Ford driver to win multiple NASCAR Xfinity Series championships after winning last year’s title with a thrilling overtime restart finish. He qualified for the final after finishing fourth at Martinsville last weekend. Majeski qualified for the Championship 4 in the Truck Series with an 11th-place finish last weekend at Martinsville. He has two wins this year.
