|Working with the Active Wellbeing Society and Essex Pedal Power, volunteers worked to upcycle and fix bikes that otherwise would be heading to landfill. -
|Working with the Mogy Foundation, these volunteers had fun teaching children between 5 and 11 years old to respect signage on a bike circuit with zebra crossings and signs at the Logos College in Rozas. The children were divided into two groups: drivers and pedestrians, and Ford volunteers made sure they complied with traffic regulations. -
|These volunteers held a masterclass on electrification in the classrooms/workshops of the association Iniciatives Solidàries. The talk was addressed to a group of young people between 16 and 25 years of age in a situation of social exclusion. They were also trained to repair electric scooters and prepare for driving license test. -
|These volunteers worked with Auxilia Valencia, who specialise in the social inclusion of people with functional diversity. -
|Ford Otosan volunteers developed and delivered a (pedestrian, cyclist, driver) safety awareness program to University of Craiova Students along with experts from Craiova Police Department. -
|Ford Volunteers provided general support to help Simply Cycling run their daily cycling sessions including booking in the clients and checking booking log, issuing and preparing equipment for the sessions, cleaning equipment, tidying up after the sessions, supporting client needs, ensure clients are having fun, making friends, getting fit and keeping safe .The Ford volunteers also assisted in running bike maintenance workshops and finding the safest routes to local schools. -
|Working with German Red Cross, Ford volunteers helped refugees in a German refugee camp to repair bicycles. -
|Ford Valencia volunteers rode a cycle path forming part of one of the cycle-pedestrian routes of the trilogy of the book series "Travel through the Valencian lands". The writer together with Interpreta Natura organization and the Ford Volunteers visited the educational centers of Callosa d'en Sarrià (Alicante) with the aim of promoting the use of sustainable and safe transportation. -
|Ford Volunteers supported a kindergarten project called Kita Ferrenberg. The volunteer event took place during Vibrant Volunteer week but was an unfunded project.
COLOGNE, Germany – When Ford Philanthropy invited colleagues to support local charities focused on assisting those with mobility needs as part of Vibrant Volunteer Week in May, colleagues across Europe did the company proud.
More than 160 volunteers completed over 1,800 volunteer hours and $35,000 was provided in grant funding to support charitable projects in France, Germany, Romania, Spain and the UK.
This year’s Vibrant Volunteer Week also coincided with Global Road Safety week, and employees were encouraged to invest their skills and time on projects promoting safe, sustainable mobility solutions, helping to deliver vital services and resources to those in need. Activities included:
- Upcycling and repairing bikes that would otherwise go to landfill and distributing to those in need including refugees.
- Running bike maintenance workshops and planning safe cycle routes to schools.
Teaching children about road safety and about the importance of wearing a seat belt and how to use child seats. - Road safety training for students with the support of the Craiova police department.
Running a masterclass on electrification to young people between 16-25 in a situation of social exclusion which included being trained on how to repair an electric scooter and prepare for your license. - Procuring, delivering and installing wheelchairs and related mobility aid devices for those with disabilities in elderly care homes in Craiova.
- Building bicycle shelters.
- Planning bike routes to promote sustainable and safe mobility.
- Supporting those with functional diversity raising awareness of the disability and promoting inclusion and use of adapted mobility options.
- Helping children with cancer and reduced mobility.
