Media members and other content creators were recently invited to Ford’s newest Off-Roadeo location in Tennessee to drive and learn about the new 2025 Bronco Sport, which adds the new Sasquatch Package for increased off-road performance and capability.
The new 2025 Ford Bronco Sport brings with it a new Sasquatch Package for improved off-road performance and capability. Approximately 60 journalists and content creators traveled to Maryville, Tennessee, for the opportunity to sample the new SUV at an embargoed media preview in August. The event included a short off-road drive in the new Bronco Sport Sasquatch, time with Ford designers and engineers, and a first-hand look at the fifth Bronco Off-Roadeo location in the Great Smoky Mountains.
Below are excerpts from a selection of reviews published by automotive media.
Raves
“… Ford let us drive the Sasquatch in prototype form. It was only for about 20 minutes on the company’s Tennessee Off-Roadeo property, but it was enough to discover that the Sasquatch is going to surprise you with the type of terrain it can clamber over.” – Autoblog
“Some could argue that it’s now the best off-roading compact crossover in the game with more legit 4×4 features and tech than anything from Toyota, Honda, and even Subaru.” – TFLcar
“From a styling and branding perspective, it’s spectacular. Ford’s artists did a great job making a relatively small vehicle look fun, friendly, and a little bit fierce.” – The Drive
“Ford’s commitment to safety is evident in the Bronco Sport, which includes the standard Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+, which now includes features like Adaptive Cruise Control, BLIS with Cross-Traffic Alert, and Evasive Steering Assist.” – ManTripping
“Another neat little tidbit exclusive to the Sasquatch are tie-down points integrated into the front fenders. They have a 150-pound weight limit, look like little pig ears, and they pop up when you need to secure something on the car’s roof, but fall back and hide away in the fender when you don’t.” – Edmunds
“In addition to G.O.A.T. Modes, Bronco Sport adds Trail One-Pedal Drive, which provides more precise and confident behavior while rock crawling.” – Guys Gab
“There’s the new 12.3-inch gauge cluster that replaces the old analog instruments and the huge 13.2-inch center touchscreen. Gone is the comparatively puny 8.0-inch unit with its Ford SYNC 3 software, replaced by the bigger screen and its new SYNC 4 interface that allows over-the-air updates and the introduction of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.” – Car and Driver
Rants
“Much of the underlying Bronco Sport has remained the same. There’s still an Escape somewhere under the sheet metal and there are still two powertrain choices.” – The Autopian
“Unfortunately, Consumer Reports rates Bronco Sport’s reliability quite poorly and Ford has had a rough time with recalls recently. The new Sasquatch armoring options will help protect the Bronco Sport from the outside world, but whether or not it will get you home really depends on how well the powertrain, fuel system, and brakes were assembled.” – The Drive
“All of the climate controls have been moved from the physical dials and buttons at the bottom of the center stack to the infotainment screen … . While some won’t mind this change, we very frequently prefer having physical controls to manipulate so we don’t need to take our eyes off the road while driving — but that’s small potatoes.” – Edmunds
“Those keen on snatching a Bronco Sport Sasquatch model will need to wait until the first quarter of 2025.” – MotorTrend
