COLOGNE, Germany - The all-electric Explorer has become the latest Ford model to receive a prestigious 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP. The independent vehicle safety organisation today released the results of its latest round of testing.

Ford Explorer received an impressive 89% in the "Adult Occupant" category and 86% in the "Child Occupant" category. The electric sports crossover excelled in both the side barrier test and the more severe side pole impact, scoring maximum points.

As Euro NCAP Secretary General Dr. Michiel van Ratingen, points out, Ford is among the manufacturers that are maintaining their high safety ambitions and continue to set a standard for others to follow.

Euro NCAP commented: "Ford demonstrated that a similar level of protection would be provided to the knees and femurs of occupants of different sizes and those sitting in different positions. In both the side barrier test and the more severe side pole impact, protection of all critical body regions was good, and the Explorer scored maximum points in this part of the assessment. Tests on the front seats and head restraints demonstrated good protection against whiplash injuries in the event of a rear-end collision. A geometric analysis of the rear seats also indicated good whiplash protection."
