Manufacturing Plants

Quality Excellence Award (Gold)

Changan Ford Chongqing Assembly Plant

Changan Ford Chongqing Assembly Plant is committed to delivering a "Customer First, Pursuit of Excellence" philosophy of operations. In case a defect is encountered, the plant upholds its "Five Do Nots" concept for quality: do not accept, do not manufacture, do not pass, do not repeat, and do not hide the defects. The plant implements Total Quality Management (TQM), quickly responds to internal and external customer feedback, promptly adjusts measurement systems to detect and contain issues, and proactively identifies and controls quality risks. In 2023, the plant achieved a 50% improvement in 0MIS R/1000 (repair rate per thousand vehicles before delivery) and a 22% improvement in 3MIS R/1000 (repair rate per thousand vehicles within three months of usage), with the highest improvement rate for a single model reaching 52.6%.

Vehicle Launch Awards

Best Global End of Line (EOL) Combined First Test Through (FTT)

JMC Transit T8 Program

The Ford Transit T8 project was launched and realized at the JMC Xiaolan Plant, where the plant’s self-developed software inspection system was applied to quickly and efficiently adjust electrical inspection content according to the project’s requirements. With this system, the number of trial production batches was increased from two rounds to six rounds, enabling earlier identification and resolution of issues before the start of mass production. The plant works closely with domestic suppliers to accelerate the frequency of updates for onboard software systems. Additionally, for software updates, One Drive and VOCF sample driving evaluations are conducted on incoming vehicles to comprehensively ensure product quality.

Warranty Spend Awards

Best CPR (Cost Per Repair) Performance as % of Spend

Electrical & Electronic System VFG Team

The Electrical and Electronic System VFG team works hard to collect data from the ECUs of customers’ defective vehicles and conducts benchmarking and stress tests to narrow down the problem scope, while actively leveraging supplier resources to deeply investigate each issue. By analyzing big data, the team developed an aftermarket battery performance monitoring tool to enable early detection of issues. Ultimately, the team earned the 2023 Global Quality CPR (Cost Per Repair) Improvement Award due to the significant reduction in warranty expenses resulting from this project.

Assembly Plant & Vehicle Team Awards

Ford Explorer Team / Hangzhou Assembly Plant

The Ford Explorer facelift project was launched in early 2022, and faced numerous challenges such as multiple new designs and complex issues related to quality. Ultimately, the vehicle team successfully resolved several critical issues through twice the number of FCPA inspections, comprehensive inspection of risk parts before production, and early support from the mass production team, all of which ensured a flawless product launch. Post-launch, the team responded swiftly to complete quality containment for all after-sales issues within 24 hours. They also created effective prevention mechanisms, including increasing the localization rate of parts, implementing robust change management with one-vote veto power in mass production, and proactive quality detection under abnormal conditions. In 2023, the 3MIS R/1000 (repair rate per thousand vehicles within three months of usage) remained stable and well below the target set for the model.
