Consumer Reports recently published the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) Safest New Cars of 2024 list with the Ford Escape PHEV (Small SUV), Ford Edge (Midsized SUV), Mustang Mach-E (Electric Vehicle), and Lincoln Corsair (Luxury Small SUV) making the cut for their top-tier safety features. These models incorporate such critical crash avoidance technologies as automatic emergency braking (AEB), blind spot warning (BSW), and rear cross traffic warning, which have been proven to reduce crash risks.

In addition to crash prevention, these Ford vehicles also offer advanced occupant protection through crumple zones, airbags, and strong vehicle structures that protect passengers in the event of a collision.

The Escape PHEV, Edge, Mustang Mach-E, and Corsair’s high scores in crash tests and pedestrian safety measures make them standout picks for 2024, reflecting Ford's commitment to safety in both design and technology.

According to Consumer Reports these three safety factors matter most:

  1. A vehicle’s ability to avoid a crash
  2. Its ability to protect occupants from harm if a collision does occur
  3. Its ability to keep others on the road safer, including pedestrians and people in other cars.
