September 2024 - As part of Global Caring Month, Ford Chile, through its Ford Philanthropy program, has reaffirmed its commitment to contributing to the well-being of local communities by partnering with the foundation Desafío Levantemos Chile. This collaboration was solidified with a significant donation to the SOS Children's Village Ñuñohue in Santiago, aimed at improving the living conditions of the children and adolescents residing in the institution.
On September 10, a team of 15 Ford Chile volunteers, together with Desafío Levantemos Chile, worked actively for 8 hours to renovate the facilities. With enthusiasm and dedication, the volunteers' commitment transformed the residence into a more welcoming and safer place. They installed synthetic grass to create a green area, designed a colorful garden bed, secured the perimeter with a wall for added safety, built a practical bike rack, and brought life to a vibrant mural that brightens the space.
This work will provide a safe space for the children to relax and disconnect, as well as encourage outdoor recreational activities in a friendly and welcoming environment, meeting the basic conditions for the residence to feel like a true home.
These improvements are essential to providing the children and adolescents with an environment conducive to their development, where they can heal emotionally, strengthen themselves, and prepare for adulthood while working towards restoring and protecting their rights.
These initiatives highlight Ford's commitment to the well-being of communities, actively participating in the global volunteer movement that seeks to make a positive impact both locally and internationally.
"We deeply appreciate the commitment of each and every volunteer who participated in improving the spaces at the Ñuñohue Residence. It was evident at every moment, because despite the challenging projects, teamwork enabled us to complete them in just one day. We hope this experience was enriching, and that we meet again in the future to continue uplifting Chile," said Constanza Arqueros, Coordinator of Individual Donors at Desafío Levantemos Chile.
