DUNTON, UK – If you think this vehicle looks familiar, your eyes don’t deceive. It’s a reimagined Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 that is set to be reborn with a carbon fibre body and a one-of-a-kind Cosworth engine.
The vehicle, codenamed the Carbon Piranha, is being produced by a group of UK engineers and has a targeted weight of sub-1000 kilograms.
Only 500 Sierra Cosworth RS500 models were produced by Ford in 1986, and vehicle number 148 will form the basis of the Carbon Piranha.
Ian Howe is the driving force behind the project which is called Vision148. He said: “Vision148 is all about collaboration with automotive and motorsport specialists in additive manufacturing and digital design and aligning with originator brands such as Cosworth who will bring this car to life. This is amplified by a unique membership club to engage fans of the project who have the chance of owning the finished car.”
