How Do You Spend Those 16 Hours Every Year?

Over three decades on Chinese soil, Ford has not only left a solid footprint in the development of the automotive industry but has also deeply planted the seeds of "care".

When "I Pass On Love at Ford" becomes a culture, and when countless public welfare activities converge into starlight that illuminates the future, the Blue Oval reveals an image that is more three-dimensional and warm.

The two volunteers from Shanghai who are sharing their stories with us today use simple yet authentic strokes to depict how "love" shines in every Ford action, and how warmth and growth advance together.

Love Is... Resonating with Innocence @ Lingna Kong

"Art Lights Up Childhood" — this public welfare event organized by the Ford Volunteer Corps became an unforgettable experience for @Lingna Kong in the spring of 2024.

Lingna, an engineer at VBDS, brought the children from Tangwan Primary School in Shanghai’s Minhang District to visit the China Art Museum. She originally thought she was going to share art, but unexpectedly, the experience touched her own soul.

The children's "first encounter" with art was quite unique. Faced with a famous painting, one little boy didn't choose to rigidly copy it. Instead, with a child’s unique perspective, he captured the rhythm of color and emotion.

" Madam, I want to draw my own painting."

When he picked up his brush and used only the purest blue, red, and yellow to outline a vibrant sunrise, a warm current surged through Lingna’s heart.

This wasn't a display of technique; it was the most genuine expression of the soul, the essence of art's boundless charm.

"I thought I was there to 'give,' but I ended up receiving a vivid and profound art lesson from these tender young minds."

This "echo of love" led her to re-evaluate her own values. In the process of giving, she transformed into an enlightened learner, understanding more deeply that love is not just a one-way gift but a two-way interaction and shared growth.

Love Is... Coloring Dreams @ Julie Hao

This past summer, @Julie Hao brought Ford's spirit of innovation and social care to a video classroom summer camp in Shanghai.

As a Color Designer at the Ford Design Center, Julie taught a vibrant "Automotive Color" lesson to a group of children from Henan.

Through this course, Julie hoped to not only impart knowledge about color but also to sow a passion for life, an enthusiasm for creation, and the spirit of social care that Ford has always upheld.

She firmly believes that these "little seeds" will take root and sprout in the children’s hearts, inspiring them to explore bravely and chase their own dreams.

The rich color models and ride-along experience prepared for the event allowed the children to touch and feel everything firsthand.

Love, Thriving at Ford

The stories of Lingna and Julie are just a microcosm of countless touching moments in Ford's public welfare efforts. Ford volunteers, each in their own way, interpret the profound meaning of "passing on love" through practical action. This is a vivid embodiment of Ford's corporate social responsibility—using genuine companionship and tangible actions to light up every tiny dream and warm every corner that needs care.

From environmental protection to supporting orphans' education, from innovative education to assisting people with disabilities, from promoting first-aid knowledge to caring for stray animals... at Ford, "passing on love" is not only a voluntary action by employees but also an indispensable part of the corporate culture. It is also the most precious "right" of the Ford family: every employee enjoys 16 hours of paid leave annually for community service.
