MADRID, Spain – Ford Performance’s Carlos Sainz has been helping firefighters in Madrid to improve their off-road driving skills behind the wheel of a Ranger Raptor, as this video shows.
Carlos, who uses a Raptor as his daily drive, got to demonstrate the pickup’s considerable off-road prowess at the Integral Institute in Safety and Emergencies (IFISE). The event was presided over by Carlos Novillo, counsellor of Environment, Agriculture, and Interior of the Community of Madrid, and was attended by Jesús Alonso, president and CEO of Ford Spain.
Carlos said: “With the Ford Raptor, you have an incredible tool. Its suspension is impressive, capable of anything, and its cabin is that of a grand tourer. The Raptor T1+ that I compete with in Dakar is the best vehicle that I have ever run; and when I tried the production Raptor, I decided to use it for my day-to-day.”
Ford’s Ranger is the perfect pickup for firefighters who demand the highest reliability and performance from their equipment, and Firefighters of the Community of Madrid run a fleet of them including Raptor, Wildtrak, and XLT models for tackling wildfires in rugged and difficult-to-access terrain. They also are ideal for rescues in flood scenarios, or rapid and safe transportation of personnel and materials in adverse weather conditions.
To demonstrate how to safely exploit Ranger Raptor’s capabilities, Carlos took the pickup around the extreme off-road circuit at the IFISE, with advisor Carlos Novillo as co-pilot.
Jesús Alonso, president and CEO of Ford Spain, said: “It is a pride that our vehicles contribute to the daily work of those who ensure the safety of everyone. The Ranger Raptor combines power, technology, and reliability, making it a true ally for professionals.”
